Property Owners Clubhouse
More than a clubhouse, it's where Winding River comes together — home base for 70+ clubs, year-round social events, educational programs, and committee meetings. A beautifully updated interior and freshly painted exterior create bright spaces for everyday use and larger celebrations, while the patio and adjoining pavilion, with a bar area and three gas grills, make for easy cookouts and casual get-togethers.
Pool
Just steps from the clubhouse, the community pool is a favorite gathering spot in warmer months — for swimming laps, joining a water exercise class, or simply floating with neighbors. Lounge chairs, umbrellas, and designated lap lanes make it easy to enjoy anything from a quiet morning to a lively afternoon.
Carolina National Golf
One of Winding River's defining features is its relationship with Carolina National Golf Club, a nationally recognized 27-hole Fred Couples-designed course that winds through the community, forests, wetlands, and along the Lockwood Folly River. The course is open to the public, giving residents the flexibility to play as often — or as casually — as they like, without a required membership. The clubhouse is home to the Winding River Grille, a popular gathering place for casual dining, drinks with friends, and community favorites like trivia and karaoke.
Beach House at Holden Beach
Perched atop the dunes with sweeping Atlantic views, the Beach House gives residents their own place at the ocean — a gathering room, showers, a large oceanfront deck, and an oceanside pool just steps from the sand. Private parking offers convenient beach access, and four day slips across the street serve Winding River boaters traveling the Intracoastal Waterway.
River House & Marina
Rising above the marsh, the River House has the warmth of a coastal cabin overlooking the Lockwood Folly River — a favorite spot to unwind on the screened porch, picnicking by the water, browsing the lending library, or watching the sunset. The adjacent marina offers a boat launch, 10 boat slips, a jet ski slip, kayak launch and storage rentals, a boat wash area, and a fish cleaning station.
Fitness Center
Recently upgraded with new equipment, the 24-hour Fitness Center offers cardio machines, strength training, free weights, and a rowing machine — with showers and restrooms on-site, so it fits whatever schedule works for you.
Courts
Pickleball joins tennis in bringing neighbors together for friendly competition, with a spectator deck for cheering on the action. Nearby, two bocce courts with covered seating and a cornhole area round things out.
Boat and RV Corral
Secure, on-site storage for boats, RVs, trailers, and other recreational equipment, available for a modest annual fee — keeping your next adventure close at hand.
Gardens, Paths & Trails
Landscaped spaces are woven throughout the community, from the Community Garden — where residents grow vegetables, herbs, and flowers — to the Bog Garden's native and carnivorous coastal plants. Created and maintained by volunteers, both gardens reflect Winding River's spirit of stewardship. A wider network of walking and biking paths, including a scenic nature trail, connects neighborhoods, amenities, and neighbors throughout the community.
