As Winding River has evolved from a growing community to a mature one, so has the role of the Property Owners Association. From supporting growth to preserving, enhancing, and stewarding our community, the Association's responsibilities have evolved to meet the changing needs of current and future owners.
Where We've Been — A Brief History
Winding River began as a vision for a coastal community with natural beauty, championship golf, and welcoming neighborhoods. Development started in the mid-1990s, with the first residents arriving in 1998. In the years that followed, River House Marina, Beach House, Property Owners Club, and walking trails took shape, laying the community's foundation.
A defining milestone came in 2003, when owners took over the Property Owners Association, shifting from developer-led to owner-led governance. This led to a new Property Owners Clubhouse, opened in January 2008, with the original building repurposed as the fitness center.

Over time, Winding River became more than a successful development. What truly distinguishes Winding River is something less visible and far more enduring—its character. Owners who care deeply about their community and one another, that character is reflected every day in the way we live, lead, and lend a hand.
